Julia Govor is known as a techno producer with her own unique and innovative sounds. Recently featured on Bandcamp Daily as the best electronic music producer, in a glowing review The New Yorker called her talent “beguiling” and “rare,” and said that her music “fills the mind.”
She is the founder and curator of the record label JUJUKA, co-founder of the event series Radial exploring the intersection between live sonic art and electronic experimental music at the Fridman Gallery, and is a resident at The Lot Radio in NYC.
Lauren Flax has been a lifelong musician, starting to play the drums at 8 years old before continuing on to guitar and bass in high school. She began her DJ career in the underground dance and rave scenes of Detroit as a resident at the Motor Lounge, playing every Tuesday night along with resident DJs Mike Servito, DJ Dilemma, Jason Kendig, and Derek Plaslaiko. Flax played the very first Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000.
While she originally started off as a jungle DJ, Flax evolved her style into a variety of techno, house, and electro music. Flax moved to Chicago in 1999, where she honed in on music production while continuing to DJ. In 2019, Flax joined the mostly Detroit-born New York collective The Bunker New York, on which she released the highly successful EP “One Man’s House is Another Woman’s Techno.”
