The Dojo Open Mic aims to celebrate everything that Hip Hop encompasses, including the emcee, the b-boy, the graffiti artist, the beatboxer, and of course…the DJ.
The DJ existed before Hip Hop. Originally, the DJ’s job was to play recorded music for an audience either on the radio or live for an audience. But the Hip Hop DJ took it to the next level by making record spinning into an art form called turntabalism.
Ann Arbor, we have had a master of this art form in our midst for many years.
Chill Will is one of the most versatile party rockers in Metro Detroit and has operated the longest-running Hip Hop radio show in the state (and also one of the longest-running shows in the Country). He can be found playing in the hottest clubs locally and throughout the US. Skilled in Music Publishing, Record Labels, Audio Recording, and Audio Editing, Chill Will brings strong music business development experience coupled with style and grace. He can be heard in the mix on Detroit’s 987 AMP radio on Saturday nights.Follow DJ Chill Will on Facebook @ DJ Chill Will 734 and on Twitter @chillwill734
